Up date

Well I'm getting rather big. I'm now nearly four months old and spend most of my time trying to chew anything I can get my teeth into. Teething I'm told. Problem is they try to hide everything interesting, but so far I've managed several pencils, the remote control, one glasses case, several magazines (great fun to rip into tiny little pieces!) and bits of wood and bark from the log basket.

I'm not naughty all the time though. As long as I get my long walks I can be nice and quiet for quite long periods, especially after last week when Brian took me for a run in the mornings and I had  several 7 km walks in the afternoons. The weather has been very wet though and who wants to go out in that? Not me, but sometimes they still make me.....

I have been told to sit, stay, lie, give paw and come back when called, so I'm learning fast! And I'm trusted to be let off the lead quite often too and quite good at coming back when called, although sometimes not the first time.....

I've now had all my shots and have a passport too so can travel. I'm still learning to get used to the car, I have been very suspicious of it since all trips used to involve trips to the vet, but yesterday I got in and sat and looked out of the window and I hardly shook at all during the journey!

I've met lots of people in the last few weeks, been to other houses and made friends with several dogs, most of them bigger than me, but I'm growing so fast I will soon catch up with them. I now weigh around ten kilos, my legs are getting longer and I can nearly reach the counter in the kitchen when I stand on my hind legs to check out what they're preparing for dinner!

Me in a relaxed pose...

Another Monday....

Had to go to the vet again this morning for my second vaccination. Tried to get out of it but was promptly lifted in to the car. Showed my appreciation on the way back by being sick on the back seat.

Anyway, the vet saw me, weighed me (I'm now 7.4 kilos!) but then decided I should wait another week for my jab as I was still on antibiotics. She apologized for not having worked that out before we came over. It would have saved me having to go in that car, but I was told I have to get used to travel....

I've decided the cake mixer is a good thing to bark at. Well it makes a silly noise. And I have to fight the broom regularly! Can't see the point of sweeping everything into a neat pile when it's so much fun spreading it about!

Twelve weeks old!

I'm getting older and bigger and heavier! Have now fully recovered from being poorly and enjoying myself a lot. I've met so many new people, which is nice, but I'm constantly being told off for nipping their fingers and toes.....and trouser legs......and skirts......and hair.......and....and...

Today Aria came to play. She is a lovely little 2 year old lady, just about my size and she likes me a lot. She has an enormous big dog in her house, so she is used to dogs. I was a bit naughty though and getting overexcited, so I scratched her finger and made her cry.....she did realise it was an accident though and we were soon friends again!

I've got a new favourite toy (having more or less eaten through the fly swatters in the house....). The washing basket is great, I can get right inside it and roll about!

Back again!

Haven't been here for a bit. My writing help went to Sweden over the weekend, so only Mike here with me. When she came back I'd learnt a few more things, like being much more obedient off the lead. But I must admit the cow field next door was just too tempting one morning and I had to be collected from it as I didn't come back when called. Now I'm back on the lead again......will I ever learn? I hope so.

I'm back to my bouncy self although still on antibiotics for a few more weeks to make sure I stay that way. I'm growing fast too, getting quite long in the body and longer legs, which means I can nearly make it up on the sofa all by myself!

I've also learnt how to get upstairs, but am not really allowed, so more often find myself barred by the door which shut upstairs off.....

I love shoe laces and take a great delight in pulling them off once tied up! I also love the big pampas grass in the garden. I have great fun with that.

The cats continue to fascinate me, they are just so tempting to chase, but I'm never allowed. I also like the look and smell of their food, but again am never given half a chance to try it out!

Poor boy...

Haven't been very well for the last few days. High fever, vomiting and peeing much more than usual, so I was taken off to the vet again...

The vet wasn't very happy with me and I wasn't very happy with her! She scratched my ear for a blood sample, shaved me chest for a bigger blood sample and then put a catheter into my precious, if still very little, willie! It was most unpleasant and I protested as much as I could whilst they held me down.

Then the vet gave me a shot of antibiotics and put me on a course of strong tablets for a week. She suspects I might have caught leptospirosis, which can be very dangerous for little fellas like me. I think they were all very worried.....

But I'm a strong sort of chap and although I get tired more quickly and sleep a lot, I am lively in between again. I think I'm out of the danger zone and on the road to recovery. Certainly this evening I have had several 'mad moments' as they call it when I'm jumping about, trying to bite their ankles and generally being a nuisance!

I'm still a bit fussy about eating all my food, in fact I'm more interested in the stuff they give the cats but they insist to pull me away from their bowls. I'm so clever at finding the odd biscuit that one of the cats have spilled around their bowl outside. Kerstin thinks I might have a bit of bloodhound in me, I'm that good at sniffing things out, especially stuff I'm not supposed to have, like rotten apples, earth and mossy bits of grass.

They have given in to my demand of sleeping on the settee, even though I need a lift up as my legs aren't quite long enough yet to jump up myself....

Two weeks here already

I've been here two weeks now, so quite getting used to the place. I also have a bit of a routine going. Quite lively most mornings, nap after lunch, lots of play in the garden after that and then I'm quite a sleepy boy most of the evening. I'm very good at night, have never disturbed them since the day I came, so I'm a very good boy. I do admit I have the odd accident in the house, but I'm just about learning how to ask to go out. I sit by the door and if they don't notice me I give a little yelp. If they ignore me or don't see me, I might just drop one indoors..... their own fault....

I met some more new people this morning, two children who played with me for ages. It was great fun! The little hole I did in the girl's dress was not intentional and her daddy said it didn't matter as she was growing out of it anyway.  I can't help, getting so excited!

At lunch time I had another visitor! She brought me some nice new toys and I had great fun with them in the garden this afternoon.

Only three!?...

They've cut my meals down to three a day! I find that quite hard to cope with. I try my uttermost to call their attention when I think it's mealtime, but they are getting too good to ignore my pleading eyes, my little yelps and my jumping about to call their attention....

I've had lots of walks round the garden today and have spotted the darned cats several times. If only I wasn't on that silly lead all the time. They seem to be getting used to me, they don't run away when they see me, just sit at a distance and stare. I'm obviously incredibly handsome!

I have several ' mad' moments a day, when I chase around, trying to bite things that pass by, like trouser legs. I'm good at stealing shoes, but am always discovered before I have a chance to put my teeth marks all over them. It's quite exhausting all this activity and I have several well deserved naps, on someone's lap if I'm lucky....
